Makeup Shopping...

Just a really quick random thought of mine...

How often do you shop for makeup?

Whether you work or live off the wealth of another, (no judgment here, I'll proudly do the same once the opportunity presents itself - hint hint - to someone named ANDY), how often would you say you go to the store to specifically purchase beauty products?

If I could, I'd shop every two weeks when I get paid. BUT since I'm married and my husband is metro (likes to "take care" of himself and shop too), I'd have to be fair and expect him to purchase something too. Which basically means, pay days would really be called broke days.

I don't shop high end products but we all know when you get enough products in your cart (even if it's "low end"), things will add up.

And besides having a YouTube beauty channel where it is naturally expected that one should be introducing beauty products and keeping up to date with the latest and greatest...

I just can't keep up with some of these girls on YouTube!

Kind of a downer when I am trying to shoot a makeup look and I find that I am always reaching for the same products. Or when it comes to the "monthly favorites" type of video, I am really close to running out of things to say are my favorite without sounding like a broken record.

But maybe that's something I should be keeping to myself.

I mean, I don't need you getting all down and distracted during my videos and start to watch my videos to see just how much I use the same products over and over...

That would make me cry.

Well, not literally. I'd probably just slap myself.

That would be more deserving after posting something like this.

You know what? Maybe I should just delete this right now and act like I never uttered these disgraceful words.

No one would know and I can continue my YouTube beauty channel and just fake it till I make it.

Yeah, that sounds like a wiser choice.

But knowing myself, I'm just going to keep typing and then press PUBLISH...

  1. Hey Amy, I've only just found your Youtube beauty channel and then your blog on it and I've got to say, one of my favourite things about your channel is that I can relate to your not being able to afford lots of high end prodz and your ability to use and reuse the stuff you have in different ways! I think it forces us to be more creative with what we have and get more bang for our buck. Keep doing what you do and I'm totally looking forward to future beauty videos!

    1. Hi Donna! Thanks for the feedback. If you watched my intro video on YouTube then you know that that is the very reason I decided to start a channel and blog. I LOVE watching makeup videos but next to never have the same products most girls use. So I would just find the nearest matching colors, etc, and copy the looks. And you know what (I'm pretty sure you've already found this out) the looks come out the same. And thus, my channel was created. I am hoping to start being able to purchase more "Drug store" products so I'll have more things to share and experiment with but until then I really appreciate the understanding and support from girls like you!!! You totally made my day with your comments! :D

  2. Well it's great that girls like me have beauty girls like you on Youtube to help us duplicate those looks :) Also I'm from New Zealand and makeup here is unbelievably expensive (even for products known as 'drugstore' in the US) eg. the iconic Revlon Colorstay foundation is $45, that's about $37US. And as a single mum, it goes without say that my budget is a tight one indeed. So thank you for your channel :)

    ps. Great blog too!

    1. WOW! That is super expensive for makeup!!! My jaw literally dropped when I read that. Hopefully the median income levels there aren't like the US. I certainly have a new appreciation for US prices. :)

  3. I think it's about the same :S I've always fantasized about what I'd buy were I to come to the U.S and have a shopping spree! MAC lipsticks here are about $33US and OPI nail polishes $21US. OK I'll stop trying to give you a heart attack now lol I love how much we've gone off on a tangent!
So basically I have what I like to call a capsule makeup collection which I really make work for me. Everything I own, I love and it's just refreshing seeing someone on Youtube that's not splashing out week after week on Nars/MAC/Chanel then having those products lost in a huge collection and not used.

ps. Hope your pregnancy is coming along well! How far along are you? :) xx
